Travelers by nature, Filipinos sure have a knack for showing up in the strangest places. Where are we most likely to turn up in 2025 though? Read on, and find out.

Filipinos have always had a knack for showing up in the most unexpected corners of the world– from bustling cities to quiet countrysides, it’s almost as if wanderlust runs in our blood. So, it’s not surprising that many of us are already setting our sights on new adventures in 2025. Whether it’s to explore hidden gems in the Philippines or chase dreams abroad, Filipinos are on the move– and here’s what the numbers tell us.

Up to 20% of Filipinos say they’re planning to travel in 2025, showing a strong appetite for exploration despite economic uncertainties. Interestingly, this desire to hit the road or board a flight is evenly split across genders, with 21% of males and 20% of females expressing travel intentions.

Looking at age groups, Gen Z leads the pack– a striking 29% say they want to travel, reflecting their curious, experience-seeking mindset. Millennials aren’t far behind at 21%, while Gen X (14%) and Boomers (5%) seem a bit more content to stay put, or perhaps more cautious when it comes to travel planning.

Economically speaking, the interest in travel cuts across income brackets. While those in ABC1 (upper/middle class) lead with 28% planning to travel, C2 (lower middle class) follows at 21%, and DE (working class and low-income) still show strong intent at 19%– proving that for many Filipinos, travel is seen not just as a luxury, but a personal goal worth saving for.

Geographically, Metro Manila residents are among the most eager to travel (24%), but they’re not alone. Mindanao also shows a high interest at 24%, followed by Visayas (22%), North and Central Luzon (18%), and South Luzon and Bicol (SLB) at 16%.

While the vast majority of travel plans are domestic, around 4% are eyeing international trips– with destinations spread across the globe. The U.S. (44%) and Japan (43%) are the top picks, followed by Canada (23%), South Korea (22%), Thailand (26%), and the UAE (21%). Asian destinations dominate the list, likely due to accessibility and cultural affinity, but interest in Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania remains steady.

That said, domestic travel still holds a special place in the hearts of many. 16% of Filipinos want to explore the Philippines in 2025, and their dream destinations are as diverse as the archipelago itself. Topping the list is Metro Manila (26%), followed by Baguio (20%), Palawan (14%), Cebu (13%), and Bicol (9%). From the beaches of Bohol and Batangas to the charm of Ilocos and the adventure-filled lands of Davao, Agusan del Norte, and South Cotabato– every region has something to offer.

Whether it’s the mountains, the sea, bustling cities, or quiet provinces, Filipinos are gearing up to rediscover the world (and themselves) through travel in 2025. And wherever they’re headed, one thing’s for sure: they’ll be bringing that signature Pinoy sense of joy, curiosity, and kwento along for the ride.
