International Youth Day 2026 highlights a generation that is hopeful about the future, sees progress in the opportunities available to them, and remains confident that major milestones such as homeownership are within reach.

In commemoration of the International Youth Day, findings reveal the encouraging perspective of the young population on progress and opportunities on what lies ahead.

Hopeful about the Future, Confident in Greater Opportunities

Despite uncertainties that may affect their future—from economic pressures to changing career paths and the cost of major life milestones—young people in the Philippines remain optimistic and continue to express a strong sense of possibility.

The latest WIN Worldviews Survey (WVS) reveals that 90% of young Filipinos aged 18 to 24 feel hopeful about their future in the Philippines—ranking the country 5th globally and well above the global average of 63%.

Rather than seeing the future primarily through the challenges they face today, many young Filipinos appear to believe that there are still possibilities ahead for themselves. But hope does not necessarily translate into a fixed idea of what their future should look like. Young people are also evaluating the opportunities available to them—and where those opportunities can be found.

Generational Progress

This optimism is also reflected in how young Filipinos view the opportunities available to their generation. More than half (52%) believe their generation has more opportunities than their parents had, while 29% believe opportunities are about the same.

This reflects a positive view of how prospects have evolved over time—suggesting that many young Filipinos see progress in the opportunities available to their generation. At the same time, their optimism does not translate into a single path forward, as many remain willing to pursue opportunities beyond the Philippines.

Global Mobility

At the same time, 52% say they would move to another country for better opportunities.

This suggests that young Filipinos can recognize greater opportunities in their generation while still being open to looking beyond the Philippines when considering what comes next.

Their willingness to explore a greater opportunities points to a pragmatic outlook—a generation that is not tied to a single place and is willing to explore different paths in pursuing the future they desire.

Homeownership Remains Within Reach for Young Filipinos

This strong sense of opportunity also extends to long-term personal goals, particularly homeownership.

Nearly 9 in 10 (88%) young Filipinos believe they will be able to afford a home of their own in the future, placing the Philippines 2nd globally in terms of confidence in future homeownership. Another 6% say they already own a home.

At a time when housing affordability has become a concern for younger generations in many markets, the result stands out. For many, homeownership continues to be viewed as a realistic part of the future they are working toward.

A lot of progress has been made, young Filipinos are hopeful

Taken together, the findings paint a picture of a generation that is hopeful about what lies ahead and confident in what they can achieve.

Young Filipinos recognize the progress that has been made in their generation and continue to see major milestones, such as homeownership, as achievable. At the same time, their willingness to consider opportunities abroad reflects a generation that is open to exploring new possibilities and finding the path that works best for them.

Their outlook suggests that optimism among Filipino youth is not about assuming that the future will simply work itself out. Instead, it is accompanied by a willingness to explore opportunities, adapt to changing circumstances, and pursue the paths that offer them the greatest potential.

This International Youth Day, the findings offer an important reminder for businesses, policymakers, educators, and organizations seeking to engage the country’s next generation: young Filipinos are looking ahead with confidence, but they are also actively assessing the opportunities available to them.
