The Digital Divide: How Filipinos Navigate AI
While Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption continues to expand globally, the Philippines is maintaining a more conservative approach, balancing practical usage with localized concerns.
In the latest WIN World AI Index, findings show that global AI adoption has increased vs the previous year, reaching a total trial rate of 74%—a 12% increase from 62% in 2025. Conversely, the Philippines records a slight decline in its overall index score, falling behind the global average by nearly 10%.

The study reveals that AI adoption in the Philippines is heavily concentrated among younger and more affluent groups, primarily used as a booster for efficiency in their activities.
- ➣ Professional Use Cases: AI use is largely concentrated in analytical and productivity-related activities.
- ➣ Personal Use Cases: Filipino users employ AI in learning-related activities, followed by organizational support and entertainment.

Balancing AI Value with Prevalent User Concerns
Despite the recognized capabilities of AI in streamlining tasks, the data reveals a measured approach among Filipino users.
- ➣ Spread of False Information: 48% of Filipinos fear AI’s capability to generate false information, mainly prevalent among the younger and more affluent groups.
- ➣ Personal Data Privacy Breach: 36% of Filipinos express worry over personal data breaches from engagement with AI tools.

Filipinos Keep a Measured Pace in the Global Landscape
Compared to global counterparts, the Philippines exhibits a more measured pace of adoption. With a record AI index score of 45% for 2026, seeing a slight drop from its previous year’s record of 51%. This places the Philippines as fourth among countries worldwide with the most limited AI engagement, alongside other countries like Pakistan and Ivory Coast.

These indicators underscore a highly measured pace of AI engagement locally. Moving from a phase of early, tentative testing to sustained daily use depends entirely on strengthening public awareness and deepening understanding of AI tools. Strengthening digital literacy serves as a key step to managing data risks while optimizing functional rewards.
